British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework forms the basis for our curriculum. At our BC Academy nurseries we create opportunities for play, learning and exploration, to support each child’s growth and development and reveal their interests, talents and personalities.
By following the EYFS Framework we are able to provide the children with premium education and care and ensure they are always kept safe, happy, and healthy. One of our goals for your child is holistic development. We supplement the EYFS curriculum with a wide range of activities and projects that enrich a child’s skills and abilities. We provide these extra activities as part of our curriculum at no extra cost to you.
Multilingual approach

In BC Academy we have no doubt that a multilingual approach is absolutely beneficial. There are numerous benefits to being exposed to different languages from an early age. BC was the first to implement the multilingual approach in Tatarstan back in 2012.
We have been using the multilingual approach in BC kindergartens for more than 11 years and we can clearly see how it can positively impact a child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development.

STEM approach

This is needed now more than ever to help children successfully connect and engage in your setting. When children are engaged in STEM activities, they become more confident and successful learners, are much better able to see the connections in real life contexts and make rapid progress.
Programme of developing children’s initiative
The ability to make one’s own choice, to come to an agreement, distribute roles, build up dialogues within the role-play and act according to the role are very important social skills that need to be developed in preschool age. These skills develop intelligence, independence and initiative.
Nowadays, adults tend to over-protect their children, solve problems for them and provide ready-made answers. So it is important to choose a kindergarten with the right educational environment, where the child will gain experience of effective socialization.

In the era of gadgets there is little space for quality family time, real face-to-face communication and joint activities with each other. Children often choose tablets and computers as friends. In computers games children receive what they lack in real life: encouragement, recognition of their merits and emphasizing their abilities, intelligence, and dexterity.
In BC Academy kindergartens we use the technology of effective socialization and the programme of developing the initiative.- Our kindergarten schedule has a wide variety of educational events such as "Club Hour" and "Problem-solving situations". They meet modern trends in the development of preschool education, promote and are aimed at maintaining children’s initiative and self-regulation. Not only are these events beneficial, but they are also a huge source of excitement for the kids!
Anji Play method and Forest Schools movement
In BC Academy children spend a lot of time outdoors, exploring the world. We use such world-famous practices as the Anji Play approach, forest school methods and play materials from the American City and Country School.
The Anji Play approach is based on a philosophy that an environment of love (one that provides trust, warmth, support, and safety) allows children to take developmentally appropriate risks. These risks (physical, emotional and intellectual) provide children with experiences of joy. This joy leads to the child’s deep engagement in their own learning and inquiry. The child’s daily reflection on these experiences creates lasting knowledge and builds the foundation for and an interest in future learning.- Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term programme that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.
Forest School has a developmental ethos shared by thousands of trained practitioners around the world, who are constantly developing their learning styles and skills to support new and imaginative learners. Its roots reach back to the open-air culture, or free air life, seen as a way of life in Scandinavia where Forest School began. It arrived in the UK in 1993 and has grown from strength to strength since then.
Communication and language
Often learned through roleplay, children might practise listening to others, listening to stories, using descriptive language to express themselves or tell a story, or expanding their vocabulary.

- Listening and understanding: To listen during larger and smaller group discussions, clarify their understanding of what they have heard with comments and questions and hold back and forth conversations.
- Speaking: To express their ideas, feelings and explanations, using new vocabulary, different tenses.

Physical development
Early Learning Goals:
- Gross motor skills: Develop balance, coordination and the ability to negotiate obstacles and use their strength in a controlled way, plus to confidently use movements like running, jumping, hopping and skipping.
- Fine motor skills: To properly hold and use a pencil, plus other small tools like pens, paintbrushes, knives, forks, spoons, scissors etc.
- Games that involve running, jumping, throwing and catching
- Using equipment such as climbing frames
- Older children might also discuss healthy living and how they feel after exercise
- Drawing, colouring, painting and crafts
- Eating independently using cutlery
Personal, social and emotional development
Early Learning Goals:
- Self-regulation: Learn to recognise their own and others’ feelings and how best to respond, learn to follow instructions and control their impulses and behaviour.
- Managing self: Building independence and perseverance, understanding right and wrong and that rules are there for a reason, learning about personal hygiene and healthy habits.
- Building relationships: To cooperate with others and be sensitive to each other’s needs, to form positive relationships and friendships.
- Practising sharing and taking turns
- Following instructions and rules and understanding why
- Exploring their own needs, interests and feelings

Literacy development
Early Learning Goals:
- Comprehension: Show that they understand stories being read to them by retelling and discussing the story in their own words, confidently use vocabulary they have learned in stories, rhymes, poems etc.
- Word reading: Be able to say a sound for every letter of the alphabet (such as ‘puh’ for P) and some digraphs (such as ‘thuh’ for th), read some words using this skill.
- Writing: Write letters and some simple words and sentences.
- Singing nursery rhymes to explore rhymes and syllables
- Learning the alphabet and digraph sounds verbally
- Matching sounds with the letters of the alphabet
- Writing some letters, their names and other simple words
Maths
Early Learning Goals:
- Number: Understand how to say and write 1 -10 in order, be able to recognise 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 objects without counting, know number bonds up to 10.
- Numerical patterns: Count past 20, explore and compare patterns and quantities in numbers up to 10.
- Counting

Understanding the world
Early Learning Goals:
- Past and present: Learn about and discuss others’ lives and roles in the community and society, learn about the past and compare how things were then to now.
- People, culture and communities: Describe their own environment and culture and be able to compare it with those in other cultures, faiths and countries.
- The natural world: Explore the natural world and understand what is natural and what is man-made, understand changing seasons and weather and the effects they have.
- Exploring their senses of sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch
- Learning about nature and seasons, often outdoor learning in a local park or woodland

- Exploring cultures, religion and cultural and religious festivals
- Practical experiments with science, such as seeing which objects float in a tub of water

- Creating with materials: Explore different materials, textures and techniques for creating art and explain their process; use props effectively in roleplaying and storytelling.
