We accept applications from FS1 to Year 13 throughout the academic year, subject to available places. This includes students joining at the beginning of the year, transferring from another school or moving to Dubai during the academic year.

Our Admissions Principles

BC Academy provides a fair, transparent and inclusive admissions process.

Applications are considered according to:

The student’s age and appropriate year-group placement
Availability within the requested year group
Previous education and academic readiness
Placement assessment results
The school’s ability to meet the student’s individual educational needs
Completion of KHDA registration requirements

Year-Group Placement

Placement is based primarily on the student’s age on 1 September of the academic year of entry and the British curriculum age-stage framework.

Students transferring from another curriculum are placed in the year group that best reflects their age, previous education and academic readiness. A baseline assessment may be used to confirm the most appropriate placement.

Inclusive Admissions

BC Academy welcomes students with a broad range of abilities and learning needs.

Families should share any relevant learning, medical or psychological reports during the application process. Our Exceptional Learners team may review this information to understand the student’s needs and determine what reasonable support the school can provide.

Providing this information supports appropriate planning and does not automatically prevent admission.

Assessments

Applicants complete an age-appropriate baseline or placement assessment. English-language screening may also be included where relevant.

Assessments help the school:

Confirm the most suitable year group
Understand the student’s academic readiness
Identify English-language needs
Plan any additional learning support
Support a successful transition into school

Waiting Lists

If the requested year group is full, an eligible applicant may be placed on a waiting list.

Waiting lists are normally managed according to the date a complete application was received, subject to any published priority criteria, such as siblings of current students. Families are updated each term or sooner if a place becomes available.

Mid-Year Admissions

Mid-year applications are welcome where capacity allows.

Students joining during the academic year complete the same documentation and assessment process. The Admissions team will support the family in completing the process as efficiently as possible.

KHDA Registration

Every admitted student must be registered with KHDA.

Admission can only be finalised after the required documents have been verified and the school has received the information needed to complete registration accurately and lawfully.
